Event: Frost & Fire Festival

In January 2025, in the middle of winter in Saskatoon, we launched and hosted the first annual Frost & Fire Festival at Gather Local Market. 

From bannock cooking classes over the fire, to snow shoes, indigenous storytelling, music performances, voyageur games, and more, we ran a jam-packed 2-week festival of programming and events. 

Week #1: Had brisk, frosty days with blue skies - this didn't stop the community and kids from coming out to check out the action and warming up beside the fire pits and inside. We're grateful to have had Elder and Storyteller, Rory Linkletter out to open the ceremony and guidance from Wanuskewin to help bring this festival to life.

Week #2: Had school buses full of kids coming in during the day for field trips to experience the full day of festival programming at Gather Local Market's Frost & Fire Festival!
